The Night Game

Another of the allegorical series of paintings. I exhibited in London, using techniques going back centuries - often with an underpainting of egg tempera - before applying oil paint and glazes to add luminosity. Everything in the painting means something: the gestures, the objects, the fabrics, the colours and the poses. And birds in this context mean that the person holding the bird is trapped, its wings clipped like the cockatoo.
